Modernist Essay
The stories and poems we have read in class are considered modernism. Modernism is a time period from the early 1900s to 1965. Fahrenheit 451 is consedered a Modernist novel because it has a lot of Imagery in it such as the fire hose being described as a serpent. Imagists were the kind of people who don't want syntax. They only want to focus on the thing itself or the image. Richard cory is considered a modernist poem because it has deceptive appearances hiding difficult truths, as said in our lecture. In comparison to Fahrenheit 451, Richard cory, too, has allusions and imagery such as the line, "Clean favored and imperially slim." You can actually imagine how this "character" in the poem might look like. :D The First Seven Years is considered modernist because in the short story, a girl's parents wanted her to go off with a boy that she doesn't want to be with. This scene in the story ties to modernism based upon the idea of difficult truths and also departure from tradition when she doesn't see the boy again....

Modernism
My writing, I think, is different now than it was five years ago because I use more vocabulary words than I did five years ago. I mostly use them to critisize people, but at least my vocabulary has increased! :D I'm not sure how the world has affected me and my writing... I just noticed my vocabulary.

MY MODERNIST
I have chosen to learn about Ernest Hemingway who lived from 1899-1961. In 9th grade, I read a book called Old Man and the Sea which was by him. I would like to learn about him since he is an author I am already familiar with, well, I'm not really familiar with him. I just read one book by him, but I really would like to learn about him, and maybe read one book by him. I hope he is interesting!

I AM HERE
I think i have made progress towards my smart goal which was to read more books. We are only suppose to read three per semester plus more for extra credit. If I read one book a month I can reach my goal of five to six books. :) (A lit analysis is due at the end of the month.)

Essay Post-Game Analysis
I'm not sure I did to well, but I honestly gave it my best efforts and tried to give good examples that supported my thesis. Speaking of a thesis, I would like to go over how to make a great one during class some time because that is what I struggle with the most when writing an essay. On how well mine was written, I would give it a B- or B maybe. On how hard I tried, I would give it an A- :)

A Conversation With People Who Aren't Here
I had a small conversation with Lissette Villalobos. We discussed whether or not Captain Beatty knows or not about the many books in which Montag owns. Here is the conversation:

The Time of My Life
During this class period, I spent it doing my weekend reading. I found it helpful just so I could get some homework out of the way. I feel like other people wern't taking advantage of this time because a lot of people were talking about off topic subjects.
