The Peeved Pedestrian

I think when Ray Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit 451, he wanted to tell us to maybe break the rules a little and be rebellious. When Montag was burning a women's house, the women wanted to stay with her books no matter what and she had hundreds of books in her house. I think she is a rebel for sticking with what she absolutely believes in and this is, I think, what Bradbury wanted to tell us in this book.

I'm a poet and I know it!!! :)

Sorry it took so long to post this. My poem was turned in so I couldn't write it. I just got it returned to me today. Enjoy. :)

Orange, fat, fluffy
Running through the grass he plays.
Twenty pounds
A grey mole sticks his head out from his hole.
Pounce!
The mole cowards back in fear leaving dirt to fill his hole.
Sweet, salty, bitter,
An aroma fills the air.
Going towards the scent his nose travels.
Eyes looking everywhere trying to find the scent.
Running as fast as he can through the door
Large hands reach down to grab him.
Soft strokes brush him slowly
Relaxed...

Fahrenheit 451

1) Bradbury wrote stories on a typewriter that he rented for a fee of ten cents for every half hour. He than wrote a book titled Fireman.

2) Wikipedia says the genre of the novel is dystopian. I've never heard that word until class today. Dystopian is a not perfect society which makes me wonder about the plot of the book...

3) The book is kind of ironic because instead of firefighters butting out fires, they start them. Firemen want to burn books.

4) In the section "Writing and Publishing the Work," Bradbury wrote a story which was published in a science fiction magazine. He writes science fiction stories.

5) The novel is frequently interpreted as being critical of state-sponsored censorship, but Bradbury has disputed this interpretation.......

Theme for English B questions

I don't think i am the person my teachers think I am. I am quiet in some classes so my teachers think I don't talk that much. I work the hardest in swimming, but not quite as much in school. I still work hard though! As I find my place in the world, I can be myself. I mean, who else would I be? I don't feel compelled to keep anything private. I'm an open person and you can talk to me about anything. In classes like math and chemistry, I rely on other people to teach me and tell me what to do, but in this class, English, I can take control of my own learning. There are so many opportunities I can take advantage of and learn something new. Today, just before writing this blog post, I read an article about Missy Franklin that Dr. Preston posted and I found it to be quite interesting. I learned something new and it wasn't an assignment to read. I truely believe that students can take control of their own learning!

Spring Semester Plan

My goal for this class is to read more and get "A"s on my vocabulary quizzes. I would also like to incorporate vocabulary words into my everyday vocabulary. I can get "A"s on my vocabulary quizzes by studying a little bit more. I always studdied for those the period before. i still did fine on the tests, but I really wasn't learning the words, I was just randomly memorizing them. I will study at least two days in advance for these tests, and hopefully the words will come fluently in my speaking. The literature analysis makes me read more so if I do the three each semester, plus some extra credit ones, I will be reading more this semester which will make me happy! :) I like reading, but I just need more time in my life to do so...

Spring Post: Literature

According to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/literature it says that:
3 a (1): writings in prose or verse; especially: writings having excellence of form or expression and expressing ideas of permanent or universal interest

Literature are ways people express their feelings, thoughts, or ideas. I think music is a piece of literature and a main way people express their thoughts  and feelings.

A novel, a poem, a rap, a song, an opera, and a symphony are six various ways people express themselves. Novels are stories about people's lives, or the lives of their ideas. I think of songs as being catchy and up beat. Symphonys consist of many instruments playing in perfect unison. If all of these different things were to all do the poem Richard Cory, I'm sure we would get a bunch of different perspectives on that topic. There are many ways people can express themselves and music is definitely one way people do so!
